Abstract

The aims of this research are to identify the tourism potential of Ujung Kupang beach in Sinjai regency; to identify factors which needed to improve the tourist attraction at Ujung Kupang beach. A qualitative approach through interview and observation during April to August 2017 has provided relevant information about the condition of Kupang Beach in Sinjai regency which need more attention to optimise the potential of Ujung Kupang beach. The research reveals that Ujung Kupang beach in Sinjai regency has great potential due its geographic location which is located near to Sembilan island and Tongke-Tongke mangrove forest. In order to optimise the potential of Ujung Kupang beach, the local government especially tourism board of Sinjai regency needs to work together along with local people to manage and to protect Ujung Kupang beach especially the sanitation and neatness of the beach.
